Asian Automakers Tops Greenest Vehicles List

Asian Automakers Tops Greenest Vehicles List

Whoa! What happened to our domestic automakers?

The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) has evaluated and chosen the greenest cars for model year 2007 with the release of their Green Book Online, a guide for consumers in buying environmental friendly cars and trucks. Here is the frustrating part: all the 12 green vehicle models included in the list are built by Asian automakers. Right. You won’t be seeing any Ford, Chrysler, or GM branded vehicles in the top 12 list.

Moving all the way to the top spot is the natural gas-powered Honda Civic GX, making it as the USA’s greenest vehicle. Following the Civic GX is the undisputed Toyota Prius hybrid, which was dubbed as America’s most favorite hybrid vehicle and the best seller for 2006. Other Asian automakers in the list included Nissan, Hyundai, and Kia.

Check out this full list of ACEEE’s The Greenest Vehicles of 2007 along with their respective powertrain features.
